As the saying goes, “safety first!” The Acura ILX has various safety features that set it apart from the Infiniti Q50. The Acura ILX has smart airbags that can deploy on different levels of force depending on conditions during a collision. If someone is leaning against a door, the side airbag will not deploy to prevent injury. The Q50 does not have smart airbags. While the Infiniti Q50 and Acura ILX both have antilock brakes, traction control systems, and electronic stability systems, the Q50 does not have Active Head Restraints. These restraints prevent head and spinal injuries during a collision by moving forward with the head and prevent the whiplash effect. On the ILX, Active Head Restraints are standard.
Transmission and Fuel Economy
The Acura ILX has a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. The Infiniti Q50 is only offered in a seven-speed automatic. The ILX also offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). This transmission system has no clutch pedal to worry about as well as a fully automatic mode making it efficient. The Q50 does not offer this feature. Overall, the ILX has better fuel efficiency than the Q50 with a 2.0t RWD engine with 25 city/ 35 hwy* compared to 23 city/ 30 hwy*.
To get a smoother ride, the Acura ILX utilizes standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. Adding to a smoother ride is the fact that the Acura ILX may handle roads better as well as be more efficient due to it weighing around 600- 1050 pounds less than the Q50.
