If you’re shopping for midsize luxury sedans, you should definitely be taking a good, long look at the 2019 Acura TLX vs. Infiniti Q50. Both are fitted with cutting-edge tech, exceptional performance, and impressive safety features, but one comes out a bit ahead in this matchup. Just take a look at the specs.

2019 TLX vs. Q50: Performance and Pricing

  • With its standard 206-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine, the 2019 TLX is able to achieve up to 23 mpg city / 33 mpg highway.***
  • The 2019 Q50 can’t keep up, with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that only produces 208 hp and still only makes up to 30 mpg highway.
  • Despite the differences, the 2019 TLX has a lower starting price of $33,000,** compared to $35,550 for the 2019 Q50.

Interior Dimensions and Features

More than just being a more accessible option for Katy drivers, the 2019 Acura TLX is also more fully featured than the 2019 Infiniti Q50. Its interior comes comfort-enhancing amenities like perforated Milano leather sport seats and optional features like heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Apple CarPlay is also among its standard interior features.

The 2019 Q50 isn’t a slouch, but it doesn’t match up to the TLX. It doesn’t give you smartphone integration, but it compensates a little bit with INFINITI InTouch™ and Remote services.

From a practical standpoint, the 2019 TLX offers 14.3 cubic feet of trunk space, once again outdoing the Q50’s 13.2 cubic feet.

When comparing the TLC vs. Q50 on safety features, there’s a lot to like in both, and a lot of tech to keep you safe during your Spring or Sugarland commutes. That said, the 2019 Acura TLX earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA,**** a distinction the Q50 can’t claim. This is due in part to the features of AcuraWatch™ driver-assist technology, which includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Road Departure Mitigation

The 2019 Infiniti Q50 offers some good safety features, too, such as Direct Adaptive Steering, forward emergency braking, Active Lane Control, and an Around View Monitor — but it hasn’t earned the same distinction from the NHTSA as the TLX.
